COTTBUS (GER): Dopo l’oro ottenuto da Stefano Minuta e Daniele Napolitano nella team sprint (con loro anche Mattia Predomo), per il team MBH Colpack Ballan CSB arriva un altro oro, questa volta Samuel Quaranta. Nel quartetto (con lui anche Renato Favero, Luca Giaimi, Manlio Moro e Niccolò Galli) gli azzurri hanno infatti conquistato un nuovo oro.

Nella finale dell’inseguimento a squadra U23 hanno battuto il Belgio, raggiunto prima della fine della prova. Per gli atleti italiani una prova di superiorità importante, con Sam Quaranta che si conferma uomo polivalente in grado di competere sia su strada che su pista. Ricordiamo infatti che Quaranta è riuscito a ottenere anche un 2° posto nella 2^ tappa del Giro di Ungheria sfidando i professionisti.

“Sono felice di far parte di questo quartetto così importante”, racconta il bergamasco al 4° anno nella categoria. “Io ho preso parte alla semifinale e poi sono stato sostituito da Giaimi. La finale è durata poco più di 2 minuti. Sapevamo di essere più forti ed abbiamo avuto la forza di non farci prendere dalla smania di far bene. La sfida più ostica era quella con la Germani, battuta con il tempo record di 4’:01”281”.

Per Quaranta ora il programma del torneo è ancora da definire. Infatti, in un primo momento, era in programma per lui anche la Madison, specialità che si corre in coppia. “Vediamo come starò”, conclude, “perché sono caduto il primo giorno e sono dolorante a un polso”.
A differenza del quartetto, dove la posizione è molto aerodinamica con gli atleti slanciati sulla bici, la Madison richiede scatti continui che mettono sotto stress l’articolazione infortunata.

EUROPEAN U23 TRACK GOLD MEDAL (TEAM PURSUIT) FOR QUARANTA

COTTBUS (GER): After the gold won by Stefano Minuta and Daniele Napolitano in the team sprint (with Mattia Predomo), the MBH Colpack Ballan CSB team secures another gold, this time thanks to Samuel Quaranta. In the quartet (along with Renato Favero, Luca Giaimi, Manlio Moro, and Niccolò Galli), the Italians captured a new gold medal.
In the final of the U23 team pursuit, they defeated Belgium, catching them before the end of the race.
This performance demonstrated significant superiority, with Sam Quaranta proving his versatility by competing both on the road and the track. It’s worth noting that Quaranta also achieved a 2nd place finish in the 2nd stage of the Giro di Ungheria, competing against professionals.

“I am happy to be part of such an important quartet,” said the Bergamasque in his 4th year in the category. “I took part in the semi-final and was then replaced by Giaimi. The final lasted just over 2 minutes. We knew we were stronger and had the strength not to get carried away with the desire to do well. The toughest challenge was against Germany, which we beat with a record time of 4:01:281.”
For Quaranta, the rest of the tournament schedule is still to be determined. Initially, he was also scheduled to participate in the Madison, a race that requires a pair.

“We’ll see how I feel,” he concluded, “because I fell on the first day and my wrist is sore.” Unlike the quartet, where the position is very aerodynamic with the athletes stretched out on the bike, the Madison requires continuous sprints that put stress on the injured joint.
