Photo Rodella).PIAN DELLA MUSSA (TO): Nell’impegnativa frazione di Pian della Mussa di 134 km, con gli ultimi 20 km in salita (ultimi 3 km al 9%), brilla il belga Jarno Widar. Tuttavia, i corridori del team MBH Colpack Ballan CSB si mettono in evidenza con un 4° posto di Pavel Novak e un 5° posto di Florian Kajamini, entrambi a 27” dal vincitore. Ora, nella classifica generale, Kajamini è 7° a 1’:07” e veste la maglia di miglior italiano, mentre Novak è 8° a 1’:09”. Il podio non è lontano per entrambi, con il 3° posto dello spagnolo Pablo Torres a soli 30” di distanza, mentre Widar si è vestito di rosa.

Questa è la sintesi numerica della frazione odierna per la formazione italo-ungherese del team manager Antonio Bevilacqua, di Gabor Deak e delle famiglie Ballan e D’Aprile. La coppia Kajamini-Novak si è dimostrata solida, e ora si guarda con fiducia alle prossime frazioni. Due ragazzi completamente diversi: alto e magrissimo il ceco, uomo essenziale e di poche parole; mentre Kajamini è uno scalatore atipico e di buon eloquio.

DICHIARAZIONI: Raccogliamo subito dopo l’arrivo le parole del team, a partire dal tecnico Gianluca Valoti. “Oggi era una prima prova della verità – afferma il tecnico bergamasco – ma abbiamo visto un’ottima squadra al fianco di Kajamini e Novak: Bagatin super in pianura, Valent, Nespoli e Ambrosini in salita. Ora vengono due tappe apparentemente semplici, ma in realtà qui di facile non c’è mai niente”.

KAJAMINI: Tocca a Kajamini, sempre analitico, raccontare la corsa odierna. “Devo ammettere che non ero al top, mi sono dovuto difendere. Credo di aver patito l’altitudine e faticavo nella respirazione. Poi pian piano ho trovato il mio ritmo. Comunque devo ammettere che per andare meglio, con questi avversari, devi vivere una giornata di grazia. Con il senno di poi dico che si poteva fare anche meglio”.
Alcuni dettagli sulle fasi più impegnative. “Con Pavel abbiamo fatto una corsa di squadra, lui mi ha aiutato negli ultimi chilometri, quando mi si è messo davanti e mi ha portato a scollinare in buona posizione. Un grande lavoro e lo ringrazio per la generosità”.

Il corridore bolognese guarda avanti. “Venerdì, con l’arrivo a Fosse, in Veneto, sarà ancora più dura. Ora penso solo a recuperare, anche se qui al Giro ogni tappa è una sfida perché rappresenta una vetrina importante per tutti noi. Le squadre hanno portato i migliori organici e anche in pianura ci sono grandi passisti. Per questa ragione non ci sono tappe facili e si deve sempre soffrire”.

Ora Kajamini è il miglior italiano a trenta secondi dal podio. “Credo di aver pagato eccessivamente la cronometro inaugurale. Tutto è ancora in gioco e gli avversari non aspetteranno la fine. A questo punto accontentarsi non servirebbe, il team è fortissimo e quindi puntiamo a qualcosa di importante”.
Lo scalatore si è guadagnato sul campo i gradi di capitano. “Diamo il massimo, anche se Novak oggi era più forte di me, dimostrando lucidità tattica. Essere in due non è niente male”.

PIAN DELLA MUSSA (TO): In the challenging stage of Pian della Mussa, 134 km long with the last 20 km uphill (the final 3 km at 9%), the Belgian Jarno Widar shined. However, the riders from the MBH Colpack Ballan CSB team stood out with a 4th place by Pavel Novak and a 5th place by Florian Kajamini, both finishing 27 seconds behind the winner.

In the general classification, Kajamini is now 7th at 1:07 and wears the jersey for the best Italian rider, while Novak is 8th at 1:09. The podium is not far for both, with the Spanish Pablo Torres in 3rd place just 30 seconds ahead, while Widar is in the pink jersey.

This is the numerical summary of today’s stage for the Italian-Hungarian team managed by Antonio Bevilacqua, Gabor Deak, and the Ballan and D’Aprile families. The Kajamini-Novak duo has proven solid, and now they look forward to the next stages with confidence. Two completely different riders: the tall and very thin Czech, a man of few words, while Kajamini is an atypical climber with good eloquence.

STATEMENTS: We gather the words of the team right after the finish, starting with the coach Gianluca Valoti. “Today was a first real test,” says the Bergamo coach, “but we saw an excellent team supporting Kajamini and Novak: Bagatin was super on the flat, Valent, Nespoli, and Ambrosini on the climbs. Now we have two apparently easy stages, but in reality, there is never anything easy here.”

KAJAMINI: Kajamini, always analytical, recounts today’s race. “I must admit I wasn’t at my best; I had to defend myself. I think I suffered from the altitude and had trouble breathing. Then gradually I found my rhythm. However, I must admit that to do better against these opponents, you need to have a great day. In hindsight, I say we could have done even better.”

Some details on the most challenging phases: “With Pavel, we raced as a team; he helped me in the last kilometers when he positioned himself in front of me and brought me to the top in a good position. A great job, and I thank him for his generosity.”

The Bologna rider looks ahead. “Friday, with the finish in Fosse, Veneto, will be even tougher. Now I just think about recovering, even though every stage here at the Giro is a challenge because it’s an important showcase for all of us. Teams have brought their best rosters, and even on the flat, there are great all-rounders. For this reason, there are no easy stages, and you always have to suffer.”

Now Kajamini is the best Italian, thirty seconds from the podium. “I think I paid too much for the opening time trial. Everything is still in play, and the opponents will not wait until the end. At this point, settling for less would not be useful; the team is very strong, and therefore we aim for something important.”

The climber has earned his captaincy on the field. “We give our all, even though Novak was stronger than me today, showing tactical clarity. Being two strong riders is not bad at all.”
